Is P90X good for skinny guys? What is a good supplement to take with the program to gain muscle mass?

im 160 pounds and i want to be around to 200 mark and i am starting the p90x program any advice what to take? certain protien drinks?

P90X can be great for skinny guys if you lift heavy and eat BIG. Tony will tell you many times during the workouts that if you going for size, be sure to use weights that only allow you to do 6-8 reps. Go HEAVY. Nutrition will be the key. Make sure you consume enough calories to build muscle.

The process below will allow us to calculate a target calorie intake per day that will allow you to maximize muscle gains while minimizing the amount of fat you put on.

The method is a four-step method:

Determine your weight and % body fat.
Example: 210 pounds at 20% Body Fat

Calculate your lean body mass.
Example: 210 x (100% – 20%) = 168 pounds
Note: If you do not know your lean body mass, do not worry. Use “0%” in the above calculation. The result below will still give you a good starting point for determining how many calories you should eat per day to build muscle. Adjust the calories upward if your lean body mass is not increasing.

Determine your caloric needs per day by multiplying by lean body mass by 19.
Example: 168 x 19 = 3192 calories eaten per day to build muscle
Note: This calculation assumes you are undergoing a rigorous workout program that includes weight training several times per week.

Once you figure out how many calories you need, you can plug that figure into the P90X nutrition guide to determine your protein, carbs, and fat breakdown for each phase. Trust me, it’s much easier than it sounds. You may find it tough to take in that many calories and that much protein with quality whole foods so you can supplement with “gainer” protein powders. I like EAS and CytoSport products for this.
