Effects of P90X for runners?
I am a distance runner. I run the two-mile in track with a PR of 10:56, and a 5K PR in XC of 18:00. I am going to be a Junior. I am wondering if anybody has done the P90X program as a runner. I see people who aren’t runners do it and they look great. But I don’t want to compromise my running ability for it.
I am a runner as well are you looking for lean muscle mass or do you want to bulk up ?. If you are looking to have lean muscle mass then I would do the lean program it is more cardio with strength training 2x a week; the Yoga X is nice it is about 90 minutes and you will feel more loose after the first couple of times you do yoga and then go for a run, if you want to bulk up I would say the classic is for you, but the lean program would probably be your best bet if you do not want to compromise form but would like to lean out all over. I do substitute some of the programs Cardio X and Kenpo X for Run and/or HIIT I run in the morning after three of my P90X workout’s and no matter what it is strength or cardio my body is warm and limber and I run better after. I hope that helps. P90X is Great, it is alot of hard work and you will feel sore but it is so worth it.
